Official Stage II Relaunch Policy and Procedures for Vision Sports Centre

Phase II relaunch plans have allowed for the resumption of limited team sports play.  Superleagues will be modifying traditional league play during this stage to ensure that all Alberta Government guidelines are being followed.  In addition, we will take some common sense guidelines to minimize close contact risk during this phase of play.

In combination with the Canadian Ball Hockey Association guidelines, and the Government of Alberta relaunch guidelines, we will be implementing the following procedures for the duration of Phase II

A reminder that these guidelines reflect the current Regulations put in place, but are subject to change on very short notice.  We will provide updates as quickly as possible in the event of a change.

Arena Entrance and Exit Policies

All participants should arrive no more than 10 minutes before, and exit no more than 10 minutes after the conclusion of their scheduled session.  In addition, participants arriving and departing should not congregate in parking lots or outdoor spaces to ensure proper distancing is observed. VSC common area will be closed to help limit congregations in the facility for the time being.   

The entrance to the facility will be from the upper doors facing Flint Road.  All participants are asked to enter from these doors.  For those mobility restricted participants, or requiring an accessible entrance, the lower door will be opened by VSC staff and entry can be obtained there.  All participants and spectators will exit the facility from the lower South facing exit.  Signage will be placed on both doors and within the facility indicating traffic flow within the facility.

Arena Guidance

Superleagues will be working with the Vision Sports Centre and other facilities to ensure as safe and clean environment as possible for play.  VSC will be implementing the following modifications for play during Phase II.

• Dressing rooms will be closed at this time, however change room #7 will be dedicated for goalies.  Please arrive to the arena as equipped as possible.  Washroom facilities will be open and available.  Increased sanitation will also be taking place in the washroom area.
• Facility staff will not be accepting cash payments of any kind, and the Lost and Found area has been removed.  No equipment will be available for rent or loan for the duration of Phase II
• Arena bookings will be spaced out by 30 minutes to ensure reduced facility capacity is maintained and high touch areas can be thoroughly sanitized.  These areas include:
  • Gate handles
  • Benches
  • Scorekeeper Area
  • All Handrails and door handle surfaces
  • Vending Machine and Water Fountain Area
• A maximum of ONE spectator can arrive with each participant.  It is STRONGLY encouraged that all spectators wear a mask at all times within the facility.  Signage and stickers on the floor will show proper distancing guidelines for all spectators within the facility.
• All participants and spectators will be required to use the Government of Alberta Covid-19 Self Screening tool before entering the facility.  Anyone showing Covid-19 symptoms will NOT be permitted to enter the facility. 
• All participants should engage in proper hand hygiene at all times, including entering the facility, exiting the facility, and whenever possible during activity.
• Masks are not recommended for participants in high intensity activity, but are encouraged to be worn at all other times

The facility will also be complying with all Government of Alberta guidance relating to Facility Ventilation and HEPA rated filters were last maintained and installed on May 1st, 2020. We will have regular maintenance and inspections every 3 months due to COVID-19.

Participant Guidance

In an effort to provide as safe as environment as possible for all people entering the Vision Sports Centre, we are asking that the following steps are taken.

• If you have travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days, please do not attend the Vision Sports Centre
• Any person(s) exhibiting COVID-19 related symptoms will not be permitted within VSC.  Those individuals should follow all public health guidelines on self-isolation or quarantine.
• Please ensure all participant worn equipment has been cleaned and sanitized before arriving
• DO NOT share any equipment with other participants.
• Please label your water bottle with your name, and do not share with other participants
• Participants should not touch their eyes, nose, mouth and face with gloves or other gear
• Practicing good respiratory etiquette (i.e. sneezing or coughing into the crook of the elbow, NO SPITTING, no clearing of nasal passages, and coughing or sneezing into a tissue)
• Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the facility.  It is encouraged that participants perform hand hygiene before, during and after their activity.

Sign-In and Contract Tracing

We will be asking all participants to provide their name and contact information when attending the Vision Sports Centre.  This information is being collected solely for the purpose of contact tracing, and will be kept in a secure location for two weeks.  After two weeks, this information will be destroyed in accordance with PIPA guidelines. 

We will also encourage participants to download the ABTraceTogether app.  This will assist public health officials in the event of a participant testing positive for Covid-19.

All information collected through this initiative will be used solely for the purposes of public health, and will only be shared with Alberta Health Services if a potential exposure occurs onsite. 

 

Rapid Response Plan

In the event a participant, spectator, or staff member displays symptoms of COVID-19, the following steps will be immediately taken:

• Immediate isolation of the symptomatic individual(s) if the participant is not able to immediately leave the facility, they will be directed to one of the small rooms near the Men’s change area for isolation, and to arrange safe travel home.  VSC staff will ensure that the participant can get home without the use of public transit.
• All surfaces and touch points will be immediately and thoroughly cleaned by VSC staff.
• Hand hygiene will be required for all participants with the event. 
• All equipment and items (including balls, whistles, etc.) will be sanitized.
• The event will be suspended or cancelled if necessary

A staff member from either VSC or Superleagues will be on site at all times during participant activity to ensure this plan can be implemented immediately. Please notify staff at the front desk if anyone has any questions, concerns, or comments while visiting Vision Sports Centre
