There are several new standards of enforcement for the 2008-09 season. They include the following:
- A renewed crackdown on hooking, holding, and interference. Remember to keep all obstruction away from the game. Special consideration will be given to interference, with added enforcement on defensemen 'zig-zagging' to impede forwards running for the ball.
- A new guideline will be a crackdown on cross-checking. This will include any action in front of the net. Players will continue to be allowed some room to battle here, but any action with a stick on the back of the opponent will be called.
- Verbal abuse of officials will not be tolerated. Officials are instructed to immediately assess minor penalties or misconducts for players engaging in loud outbursts in response to officials calls.
As well, the following rules will be used in all seasons at all levels of play:
- Teams will be allowed ONE timeout per GAME.
- In local play, VISITING teams must switch jerseys in case of conflicts.
- At the first stoppage with five minutes remaining in the permit time, the clock will be reset to two minutes and the game will finish with stop time.
The current CBHA Rulebook will be used to enforce all other rules standards.
